Richard Carr raced with Nigel Hook in "Lucas Oil" at the weekend in Ft Lauderdale, two straight wins in the SBI P1 class, first time out for Carr for 15 years!

Looks like Mr. Carr is getting a bit of practice in the Skater vee before his shows up for P1.

He did a season in V24 a couple of years ago, but 'bombed'.

V-24 ? Would that be what we ( usa ) call the bat boats ?
They are a blast to race in . I ran one in Key west a few years ago ,then I raced one in port huron on a snotty day in 04 i think . We just simply pierced thru the swells ,fun rides .

Do you have a class just for the v-24s?

Yeah, 'Bat Boats'. The 'Bat Boat' design is quite common over here, with an open, Outboard powered version of the V24 (B-23) and also the bigger B-28 twin outboard, or single sterndrive version.

The original one design concept from Ocke Mannerfelt (the designer in Sweden) was as the V-24, with Volvo power.

I think the B-28 was the first release from Ocke in about 1993

The V-24's have raced over here in Europe for some time (since late 90s I think) and have had a couple of different series organisers, but at the moment, there's nothing as far as I know. They last raced as a Proper series in Portugal I think.

They do get run under our national authority here at the moment (Royal Yachting Association) but without a proper series promoter.

As you say, unbelievable for such a small boat when it chops up.

Here's a little snippet of (not terribly good) video of some running here in the UK, showing their amazing pitch stability in flight.
