Spammers

This is getting really annoying. There was a point where I was dealing with (banning) a spammer every one or two days. So far today there have been eleven!!!

The majority seem to come from China but the Russian smut lords have recently discovered the website too. Best one so far today came from that powerboating capitol of the world, The Republic of Moldava.

Anyone have any ideas about how to stop all this crap?

I *think* that in VBulletin boards there is an option to have a code required for registration - one of those boxes with random letters/numbers which throws off their auto registration programs. Should be in Administrator options somewhere.

It's already there.

Just now got rid of the 30th one of the day and a few are online now.

I had this problem on the RB Forum -

There is an easy solution -

You have to add a question (on sign up) that the filth / bots will not get or can't be bothered with.

e.g. Who designed the first Cigarette boat?

Answer lower case *********

Trust me no more spam!

But be prepared for non net savy guys and girls asking you for the answer !

There may also be an option where the new poster has to be approved by the admin before they can post, but it might put some people off.
