What do you think of the Nikon's? I know once you get the lenses one cannot change back and forth but I was just eying the new D3 as I have an older Nikon and of course Nikon lens

Is the sponson nose getting repaired on the Geico the Callan hull? I know they put the nose cones on after it comes out of the mold and one fell on two yrs ago in key west.
007 I am still dizzy from that paint job. what boat was that in a previous life? Good to see Reliable back from the abis of key west. same hull or new one?

From my understanding they damaged the sponson tip when they stuffed it during a run on Friday, Not sure about the boat, But Art Lilly will be throttling it.
Look for more pics this afternoon.

still running on Bahrain time, sleep is all messed up. on to the pics from Ocean City. to say I was disappointed is a understatement the course was at least a 1/4 mile from shore so photo ops sucked from the beach. hopefully the next race I attend will be closer, I was using a 500mm zoom.

Pic quality looks fine to me especially considering that these pics that you were disappointed in are better then any I have ever taken.
Any idea of the results?

Pete,
I wasn't having much luck offshore either. I shot 3,000 + pics and dumped 1/3rd of them. But I did experiment and tried something different so that was partly my fault.
Also I was shooting w/ both cameras. I remembered what I hated about the XT. One bump and it went into full manual mode.
Good thing I checked after I shot 50+ pics. Of course they were some of the best ones I wish I had got but they all came out way under exposed and I trashed them.
Pete, normally they raced about 300 yards off shore. It wasn't until the driver's meeting that I found out that the course was moved out by the decision of the Coast Guard. Keep in mind, last year a swimmer drowned and we also had a boat run up on the beach. This was brought up by the Coasties and commended the Wicked team on how they kept the entire situation in CONTROL. They radioed in and announced they were taking on water and they were going to beach the boat. By the time they reached the breakers the boat was slowed down and I believe they cut the engines. No one was hurt either on the beach or the boat. The drowning was a separate incident, but all of this was taken into consideration for the moving of the course. Should they had another swimmer in trouble this year, the CG wanted enough buffer so that they could search and rescue without having to stop or interfere with the race.

Tim,
It is what it is, Bruce (IMAX) told me if I go to anymore ne races this year let him know. I have a pic of a LG rescuing a kid that appeared to be in trouble this year. having the race that far from shore sucked. whether there for photo ops or just spectator.
oh well Jax Poker run produced some great photos.
and I am sure hollywood will make for a few good shots
as will sunny Isles.
