It seems there are a few recycled boats running in P1. Searex was formerly Ettore, Pignolo 53 used to be known as Spiderman and Team Ranas/The Way to Happiness was once......uh oh, I've forgotten the boat's original name.

According to a thread on Offshore Only, the former owner of the boat refers to it as his old Ettore boat.
How do you like your new boat and how does it perform compared to the Ring?

Hull is amazing Ben and perfect balanced, but she's way 2 slow and to heavy as we tought for racing. We are trying to find a mariage between endurance and speed and rebuild the same boat without the top cabin. As we switched the gearboxes on Sunday it gained lots more speed and afterall we are happy with the results. Competing in P1 next year we have lots work to do and try another concept. However, always finishing a race will result in podium afterall as I remember the slow Italcraft in P1 2006.
Conclusion: The Condor is a perfect boat for our custumors and rib market, Racing her in P1 wildcard was just an endurance test, but not competitieve with 56 knots. The Ring was more competitieve last year, as for this year the level increased and looks like there are no slower boats anymore.

Thanks for the welcome.
Is there any news regarding the rules for next year? I asked this question on offshoreonly but got no real answers.

maybe you can ask Mike a copy we had in Portugal
main changes are
- supersportclass: no partial canopy's - no foothrottels - max speed 85
- evolution: closed canopy's
all engines will be dyno'd at p1 costs

The 2008 rules are only proposals at this point, but main proposals are:
Supersport:
- 85mph max speed checked by GPS
- Open top boats only ... no partial or full canopies
- Standing or seated, but no seat belts
- No prototype boats ... must be one of serveral built pleasure boats
- Power to weight unchanged ... 1hp to 4.5kg
- Engine hp determined by pre-season Dyno plus fuel pressure, revs and turbo boost (if diesel)
- no outboards after 2008
Evolution:
- Min weight of 4,000kg
- Air for 30 mins (that will have to change :-) )
- no change to power to weight - 1hp to 3.5kg
- Same as above for engine hp (plus boost for superchargers)
- Full canopies only from 2009 ... partial allowed in 2008
- P1 will Dyno one engine only, but must be one running in the boat (e.g. not the spare)
Final rules will be issued after ratification by the UIM in December

Was there any discussion about the addition of multispeeds and multifuels?
Thanks,

Multispeed gear boxes are not allowed currently, and there are no plans to change this
Fuel must be standard (for Gasoline) unleaded from the pump ... no additives.
They are even talking about you only being allowed the use the fuel THEY supply. Not sure how sensible that is, but standard RON/MON ratings currently apply

Is that standard pump or can you use Optimax/VPower etc? Would it make much difference?

Will this mean that the Evolution class will be run under UIM Offshore Rules?

I don't think that they would be allowed as they only have the rights to pleasure and navigation not Class 2/3? Can't remember the corresponding one!
They will probably just try to bend them.

90MON or 102RON is officially the octane if I remember correctly..
This would allow you to use high octane unleaded like Optimax, but many of the high performance engines don't like it!! The mercury is not supposed to use it for example, in the same way the mercedes AMG engines are not allowed to.
Both SuperSport and Evolution continue to run under the UIM Pleasure Navigation rules ... not offshore, as P1 only has rights to Pleasure Navigation

With the UIM. They have 45 days in theory to hear it.
I have to be patient in the meantime ... don't do patient very well :D
