Portugal -Portimao Final Heat

Sounds like the politics are "kicking in".

Damn shame.

Post on Pontoon Talk..

"GEEEEEEEZA "

Apparently EXTREMEBOAT has been DQ'd from the Belgium race due to the results of its engines dyno tests (35hp over apparently). Not sure if it will race in Portugal as EXTREMEBOAT drivers stormed out of briefing half way through.

Seems the championship will be between the Chaudron 41 Racing Projects and our own Buzzibullit 3. Good luck to both of them. Would be nice to see VoomVoom in the thick of it also.

my reply:

That news is real sad.

Mike and Jackie have done their best to make "an input" into the sport.

Quote rule books all you like, but if powerboat racing loses them - it will be worse off.

Not a good situation at all.

I see from a post on Boatmad.com from Mikey (Dragon on this forum) that Extremeboat.com was dynoed at 547hp so it was deemed the boat was underweight. Other boats have exceeded their power to weight ratio and have only had to add weight, not have their points taken away.

What the hell is up with the P1 organisers?

We didn´t storm out ... Jackie walked out in tears as you can imagine :(
I sat through the rest ... but it was very hard.

Sadly, we had a MAP of 531hp (what P1 said we had to weigh against), were weighted to 540hp and dyno´d at 547hp ... were 23kg under weight

We have appealed the decision, and are having the Dyno redone as the original was not even calibrated

That's interesting.

I've heard figures for the Merc 525 being banded about @ 547hp, which is a VERY precise number to attach to a big chunk of pig iron (no disrespect to the motors, but thats all they are, hardly scientific masterpieces like F1 motors) I would imagine they vary by a good few HP from motor, to motor, especially once they have a few hours on them.

Makes you wonder if the figure was really shown on the dyno, or if the number was just used (as it appears to be a recognised benchmark for the model) with the knowledge that it would nudge you 'just' outside the rules given your all up weight!

I'm sugesting this, because it's clear from posts on Boatmad that there are a few dissgruntled also-rans who will have almost certainly been complaining and shit stiring for some time now to P1. Hell hath no fury like a shitty racer, consistantly beaten. (I know!)

BTW, Jackie has been a little conspicuous by her absence (posting wise) recently, and is no doubt a little upset by all of this shite over the last week or so, please send her my best regards, and remind her to stand-tall, coz most of this shit is spurned on from jealousy of her ability as a racer and being in a position to show it. She must stick her chest out (so to speak  ) and stride on.

:) I'm here, just thought you'd all be sick of us if we both posted!

Yep, pretty p'd off but hey, it comes with the territory and we now treat it as a compliment, if we were'nt winning nothing like this would happen :p . Sadly we are getting used to this stuff, I just wish we could all just race on the water and battle it out there

We'll fight back and we look forward to some good battles next year, we love this sport too much to let it get in the way of our true passion.

Really appreciate everyone's support, it has meant a great deal to us both, thank you :)
