View Full Version : Cowes Torquay
There are a few noises being made about a revival of the Cowes - Torquay race.
Any thoughts Propriders?

The biggest issue will be safety (in other word the ablity to cover the distance of the whole course with safety boats) ...
This is one of the main reasons it was stopped sadly.
Most of us would love to do it again.
Given the Harbour master was looking for something like 60 safety boats to cover Round the Island (only 55nm) ... imagine how many he would want for CTC?
The last time we raced (2003, cancelled in 2004), the boats were expected to have their own boats on standby if they broke down!
Would need some creative thinking and a change in position from the harbour master to run it again ... but given that we ran the round the Island race last weekend (which was a big step forward), anything is possible :)

I think it would be great to see that race resurrected and given the right ammount of input/agreement/help from all parties it could be run again. Lets hope we see it going again soon.
That seems like a lot of work!
Safety boats etc.
I am not shy of that, I have had some great times from this sport....
Now I am an "old B", best I put back into the sport...
