Isee that Tim Powell and Steve Curtiss' names are mentioned....are they part of the committee or just supporting it.
Who is entered so far and what are the logistics involved?
What would everyone consider the winning combination to be? Deep V or Cat and how big and with what power?

also why is the class 1 only V hulls, would there not be interest from the current fleet of cats perhaps?

I thought Tim Powell and Willie Myers did very well in one of Aronow's cats back in the 80's in one of these races....that was a 39 footer with diesels.
Are the new era cats too fragile to do something like this?

The winner of the 1984 Round Britain, Fabio Buzzi..

wasn't White Iveco also damaged in that race by a crane operator not paying attention to where the lifting straps where? Somewhere near ramsgate i think?

Tim & Steve are members of the committee and their input is unique. We do have over sixty "intend to race" participents registered so far. There will be more information in our December news sheet on our web site shortly. www.roundbritain.info.
Cat's aren't allowed, this is a monohull race only. So the winning combination could well be similar to Buzzi's White Iveco last time. 45 odd ft long with four small diesels. Total HP 1600.

On a flat day the cats would disappear into the distance, On a real bad day they would be in serious trouble. Ted Tolemans 45 Cougar Cat sunk in heavy seas off the Severn Estuary last time (1984). We don't want any or either of those situations to occur this time.

The crane operator got his cranes balance wrong in Ramsgate and he dropped White Iveco onto a concrete bollard on the dock side putting a huge hole through the hull. Buzzi put his men to work and the hole was repaired in time for him to win the last leg to Portsmouth without any trouble! Buzzi is a cool dude.

So are there any interested parties so far?
Have you heard from any American teams?
I have been talking to some of the "Old Legends" over here and there may be an interest in putting an old guy effort together....who should we contact?
