After the horror of her burning up in the cumination of her last season in p1 and the great restoration work they did to enable her to be at the cowes GP was she not retired? Maybe put in a museum or something similar.

Just did a quick google search and can't find much other than she was deinitly retired after her last p1 race (portugal i think) and seems as though the plan was to put her in a museum.

Welcome to Proprider Driverofdonzi.

Thuraya was badly damaged during the Mediterranean Grand Prix in Gallipoli, Italy in July of 06. Pannata was determined that this historic boat would not just be written off and the boat was repaired, rerigged and repainted in time for the British Grand Prix in Cowes less than a month later.

The boat looked and sounded great at Cowes. Unfortunately, it didn't race. Not because the boat wasn't ready but because the boat arrived late due to being held up in Customs I seem to remember.

Thank you, Ben Mazur!!!!

This Proprider is new to me...I have been with Offshoreonly.com for a while now :)

Wow, It damaged badly :( Look like engines overheated of electrical failure that caused the fire. I am glad that no one got hurt.... :)

You may well see 'Thuraya' appearing again this season in the breakaway Italian national championship for 'endurance' boats. I here that Adriano Panatta, one of the boat's owners and the former Italian tennis star, isn't happy at the costs and travelling involved to compete in the Powerboat P1 series so he and his chums have set up a national series. Bathchairs are mandatory!

Old race boats never die. They just end up in Italy!
