Originally called 'Double Two Shirts', this Don Shead designed 70s Planatec 40 went on to become UIM Class II World Champion in 1988 when owned by Roger Fletcher in his rookie year of racing. I last saw it racing at the 89 Atlantic City Worlds.

It should be racing again in 2007.

same boat that competed in the 84 Round Britain I assume?

May I Ask what (and with whom) its coming back as?

That's the one. It was later known as 'Follett Car Group' and I'm told is now owned by a member of the Round Britain committee.

Now I've read all the history on the Follett boat, I think we need to make sure we get the right engines! Poor old girl did not have much luck with them :)

Don't know if the final decision has been made regarding engines for the Follet boat but Express Racing of Deland Florida built a number of engines for our Reefer Racing boats.

The engines were always reliable and Bruce and John are very easy to work with.

Had a few chats today re engines, boats etc. for the RB, reliability is clearly going to be the key, but I reckon going down to the Gym 3 months before the race may help too!

It's going to be real tough...and unlike a normal race where you get out of the boat and go for a beer, its early to bed for 12-13 days!!!!!!

Mike James has added a new bit to the COPOC site entitled "Bad Boys". It refers to Lord Lucan and Dr Emil Savundra, wondering, if any US readers of this site could post through some stuff re Florida in the '80's - now they were real "Bad Boys"!

Went shopping with my sister this morning and she told me the story when a really nice guy called George Morales got her a glass of champagne on The Royal Yacht Squadron lawn back in 1983, (she was 16 and got the good looking gene out of the two of us).
"Where is he now, John?" she asked.
"Not in the middle of John Lewis", I replied.
"Far too many cardboard boxes around."
