AL ZAFEEN TO MAKE CLASS 1 DEBUT IN VICTORY 77
Friday, 18 May: Arif Saif Al Zafeen is the latest new recruit to join the crop of talented new drivers making their Class 1 debut this season and the latest addition to the Dubai based Victory Team, stepping into the driver’s seat of former Class 1 World and Middle East Champion, Mohammed Al Marri to partner the experienced Jean-Marc Sanchez.
Having made his competitive debut almost 15 years ago in wooden powerboats, Arif comes to Victory with an impressive track record, competing in the UAE Formula 2000 Circuit Racing Championship, winning the title in 97/98 and 98/99 and in recent seasons has competed in the President’s Cup Formula 2000 Championship.
Sanchez, who has narrowly missed out on the title for the last two seasons, is confident that the partnership will flourish. “We have put in a lot of testing together and it has gone very well,” he said. “But testing and racing are very different and we will need that first race to really get to understand each other but from that point onwards I am confident we will go well.”
