British powerboater Jon Fuller has purchased the only Phantom 31' ever made by Steve Baker of Phantom Boats U.K.

The Phantom 31' commissioned in 1981 by Alistair Keynon, and the Baldwin twins, was a one off boat produced by Baker for the UIM Class 2 series.

Although the hull never lived up to its full potential, it gave imagination to Baker to design the ultra successful Phantom 28'.

Jon Fuller runs the the very popular internet based boatmad.com forum, uses a Phantom 28' hull for pleasure and holds National Championships in the UK sport of powerboat racing.

Since Phantom Boats ceased trading in 2000, due to the retirement of owner Steve Baker, Fuller has run a campaign against other European boat manufactures, who have copied the Phantom design and marketed them as their own!

Fuller, has in his camp, Steve Baker, ready to take moulds from the 31' hull.

Could we see some British big boats go racing soon?
