GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR EGYPTIAN GRAND PRIX

Wednesday, 11 July:

Following a recent visit to Porto Marina, El Alamein, the venue for the Egyptian Grand Prix in October, IOTA General Secretary, Maro Sala, has confirmed that the event has the full support and backing of the country’s Ministers of Tourism and Sport. “We visited the venue last week to hold meetings with the race organisers, as well as the Egyptian National Authority and also met with the Government ministers who have given their full support and backing for the Egyptian Grand Prix,” said Marco Sala. “We have also received further assurances from the ministers that the works that are needed to be carried out within the marina to accommodate the event will be completed on time.”

“It was also agreed to reschedule the event in view of the festival of Eid, celebrating the end of Ramadan, which will be taking place close to the original date of 20 October; the event will now take place on Saturday, 27 October.”
